Below are some important facts

Types of Coloured tints

There are three different types of tints, of which only two are often used.

Opaque tints

First, we should know about the different types of tints of coloured contact lenses. First one we have on our hands is the opaque tints. Opaque tints are solid, and they cover the eyes completely. This changes the eye colour to the colour of the lenses. These lenses can be used for both sets of eyes, whether they are light coloured eye or darker eyes.

Enhancement tints

Then we have enhancement tints, and they are like opaque tints, just the tints are translucent. With enhancement tints, some of our eye colour is reflected through the eyes. That is why enhancement tints blend in with the eye colour and produce a brighter and more beautiful colour.

Another thing you should know is that enhancement tints can only be used for light coloured eyes. Darker eyes do not let the translucent tints put too much effect on them.

Visibility tints

Then we have the visibility tints, and they cannot be used to embolden or brighten the eye colour as you wish. They have a very faint colour so that you can only spot them. So, if they fell down or your drop them by mistake, you can find them without trouble.

Customized tints

Customized coloured contact lenses are used by sportsmen usually. They are made specially as per the requirements of the user. Most sportsmen have them made so that they can avoid glare during their activities.

Secondly, such lenses are also made for people who want to hide their eye injuries. Customized coloured lenses are the perfect way to do that.

Other Types of Coloured Contact Lenses

Among the tints, we have other types of coloured contact lenses. The coloured lenses made up of different materials.

Soft contact lenses

The first one is the soft coloured contact lenses. These contact lenses are made up of silicone hydrogel, and they have more water content in them. These lenses are very comfortable on the eye as their material is very soft.

But due to it being soft, they are usually available in the daily disposable category. This because they are not much durable and do not have a longer life.

Rigid gas permeable lenses

Secondly, we have rigid gas permeable contact lenses or otherwise known as the hard contact lenses. Coloured contact lenses are very widely available in many different varieties.

They may be rigid and hard, but they are made to provide much more gas permeability; hence they are comfortable.

Disposable Contact Lenses

There are three types of disposable contact lenses that you should know about.

The first one is the daily disposable coloured contact lenses. These coloured contact lenses can only be used for one time. Mostly used for Halloween and such purposes. They are very soft usually and require no maintenance as you are going to use them once and then discard them. Next time you are going to use a fresh new pair.

Weekly & Monthly disposable coloured lenses

Secondly, we have weekly and monthly disposable lenses that can be used over a week and a month. These lenses are made such to last a week or month; hence they will be required to take care of. You would need to clean them after every use and store them safely. Once they expire, throw them away and buy a new pair if you really need one.

Extended coloured contact lenses

Lastly, we have extended coloured lenses that can be used for 3-6 months. These are usually used for vision purposes as you can wear them continuously for weeks without taking them off. Of course, they will require some cleaning every few days, so make sure you take proper care for them.
